Learn to play the Tabla

I am committed to teaching the art of tabla, focusing on the Punjab Gharana, to students of all levels including beginners and children. Group and individual classes are available.

Classes will focus on:

  •   Lessons in tala, the rhythm cycles that comprise the rhythmic structure of North Indian classical music
  •   A solid grounding in tabla technique, learning the strokes on the instrument
  •   An immersion in the recitation of tabla bols that are the building blocks of every tabla composition
  •   Learn how to tune the tabla and how to care for your instrument
  •   Support in the selection of an instrument
  •   Advanced instruction on the art of tabla accompaniment in North Indian classical music
